The past couple of weeks have been exciting. We launched the new school quarter of UCSD with a new institute quarter and we are teaching a lunch class on the teachings of President Nelson. What an incredibly dynamic man, full of wisdom and so desirous to lead church members to the Kingdom of God. The class consists of 20 conference talks he has given on a variety of gospel topics.

Our Sunday afternoon "Come Follow Me" group continues and grows. We now regularly get about 10 YSA coming and have a great discussion. It's a wonderful way for the YSA to grow their doctrinal knowledge of the Savior and become more like Him.

Our Tuesday Temple Days are also a delight. We see so many people come to the San Diego Temple from so many places. Of course, the architecture stirs a lot of interest but many have gospel questions and almost all want to go inside. We use that to explain to them the importance of baptism. Last week we had a busload of 40 people from France! Plus a few more Chinese, which we see every week. And of course, many church members that are here on vacation. It is great to see how many take their youth inside to do baptisms. We unexpectedly ran into our neighbors, the Rowe family. They were here on Spring break to do baptisms and when they walked out, there we were!

We don't get to go to the monthly senior missionary FHE's very often because of the YSA Family Home Evenings, but we went to the one in April. There are about 20 couples serving, many at the Mormon Battalion visitor center. (MoBat) With that many, there are some coming and going all the time. What wonderful people serving in San Diego.

Bishop Wing of the La Jolla YSA Ward surprised us by asking us to teach the first 5th Sunday lesson of the year. Each lesson will be on a piece of the covenant path and the first part was the ordinances and covenants of baptism and confirmation for the gift of the Holy Ghost. We had a lively discussion with about 90 YSA's. It was fun.

We went on a couple of fun outings. The La Jolla Coastal Walk is along the coast in La Jolla proper and the Torrey Pines State Park is a preserve hike just north of the golf course along the ocean. Both have great views and allow us to get some of our daily "steps" in. Of course, Reed gets about 18,000 steps in when he gets to go golfing.

Lastly, we went to watch the BYU baseballers play USD. We've said this before but USD (a private Catholic University) has a beautiful campus and all their facilities are first rate. So is their baseball stadium. The Cougs lost 6-5 in extra innings, but we enjoyed a fun night with Bishop and Mindy Wing and some of their neighbors from the San Diego 7th Ward.

Twice a week we hold a Lunch Class and we study, The Teachings of President
Russell M Nelson. We get about 7-8 students and we sit around
our kitchen table eating and discussing.
