Over the Hills and Far Away...

We finished our mission on Thursday night May 21st and left on Friday May 22 for a little tour South to the Cotswolds and Bath.  It was a wonderful trip and here are some of the places we stopped.

Warwick Castle in Warwick is kind of the "Disneyland of Castles". Lots of activities for children and even "Glamping" on the grounds.  The castle was built almost 11 Centuries ago.

In bloom.

Attended church in Cheltenham and met a nice member, Ken Taylor. We asked for directions to Benbow Farm and he said, "Why don't I take you there?"  He was a widower and said
he had the afternoon free and would love to take us. We went to Gadfield Elm Chapel, Benbow Pond and the Church in Ledbury where Brigham Young preached (the Ledbury Baptist Church)  We met the Robinson's a lovely Senior Missionary Couple at the Gadfield Elm Chapel.

Love the pillows on the very hard wood benches.

The Gadfield Elm Chapel is no longer a meetinghouse but is used for special meetings and groups. There is a code to get into the building. It is several questions that only Mormons in-the-know would have the answers to.

This is the Benbow Pond...where Wilford Woodruff baptised over 300 people in 1840.
Almost all were members of the Church of the United Brethren.

 Onto Bath

Bath is a town set in Southwest England known for it's rolling hills and it's Hot Springs Roman Baths and it's 18th Century Georgian Architecture.  We stayed At Gray's Boutique B&B. It was beautifully decorated with so much detail and felt homey and comfortable.
Loved the little lavender sachets with the towels.

Entry to the Roman Baths

People from all over came to the Baths and soaked in the warm mineral water. Doctors prescribed the Baths
for all kinds of ailments.

Notice the figures climbing up the ladders on the Cathedral.

We took a walking tour of the city.

The Circus (Nicolas Cage lives here)

The Royal Crescent is another residential area where all the doors to the outside must be white, except one tenant who insists on hers being yellow.
